Fun in the Chamber

On Wednesday evening I participated in public speaking training for new councillors. The training took place in the Council Chamber at Halifax Town Hall. It was a great session led by Emma Taylor, focused on the skills needed for drafting and delivering the kind of speeches given in council meetings. I learned a lot, and had a lot of fun in the process.

Halifax Town Hall is a beautiful Victorian building in the gothic style. The Council Chamber, which used to be a court, has a beautiful stained glass ceiling, and the whole room is panelled with wood. I had a good look around at the end of the session and got some photos, including some fun ones of me in the Mayor’s chair.
