Many of the gloves knitted by Mary Allen of Dent feature a distinctive zigzag pattern on the back of the hands. These have come to be called ‘adderback’ after the snake that can be found in Yorkshire’s hills. Adders are easily identifiable by the zigzag markings on their backs.
I’m playing with ideas for using this pattern in designs other than gloves, to be knitted with my Yorkshire Warmth yarn. Here’s a preliminary chart I’ve created to work with.
