I’ve been playing with Celtic knot cables again, working out if it’s possible to form a triquetra on a striped garter stitch background knitted flat. As usual it was a needs-based experiment. Soon my friend Sarah Alderson and I will be running our annual joint mystery knitalong (MKAL) and this year we have planned to design shawls for it. There will be a two-colour section in the shawl, and for mine I thought I’d do colourwork cables for this part. As I’ve since changed my mind and opted for a different two-colour technique for the MKAL, I can share the result of my cable experiment without MKAL spoilers. I rather like this little triquetra, and though I’m not going to use it in the MKAL, I may use it in some other future design.
