Studio Upgrade And Other Plans

Like many people at this time of year, I’ve spent some time this week making plans for the year. It’s an exciting process, and I am having fun with all the tools I am using to do it. These include a gorgeous wall planner I found on Etsy. It’s by Angie Sturgeon, a UK artist whose style I really love. It is very much a whimsical folk art style, and the handicrafts theme of the planner delights me too. I got it laminated (at Staples), and so far I’ve used it to put publication deadlines on some new designs I have in the works, and to plan some pattern revisions.

Another tool I’ve only just discovered, through my dear friend and fellow designer, Sarah Alderson, is the ‘bullet journal’. This is a system for using an ordinary notebook, or a fancy one (I’ve ordered this Moleskine beauty), as a versatile, multi-purpose tool for living. I’ve already started one in an old notebook I already had, and today I instagrammed a couple of pics from it. See how much I love the creativity it involves!

A primary purpose I’ve used my bullet journal for is to record a list of goals for 2016. I have big plans, and I intend to achieve them! I’ve already taken action about a few of them, and I am really excited to be getting on with growing (my word for the year is GROWTH).

One of my goals is to have a beautiul work studio, and my wonderful husband is helping me achieve it. He started a complete renovation a few days ago, and today on Periscope I broadcast a video of the room in its stripped-back state. If you’re reading this Sunday night or Monday before mid-afternoon on a tablet or smartphone, go see my broadcast on Periscope, where you’ll be able to see the on-screen comments from viewers. Or watch it on YouTube without the comments.

Can you tell how excited I am about 2016? I hope it has started with lots of promise for you too dear reader. Happy New Year! :o)
