Calderdale Council, of which I am now a “Member” (elected councillor) has two by-elections on Thursday following the death of one councillor, and the resignation of another for health reasons. One of the two wards with a by-election is Ryburn, a very large and rural ward where Labour’s excellent candidate has run a fabulous campaign. Over the last few weeks I’ve supported her campaign by attending a women’s event she facilitated, participating in several door-knocking sessions, and hosting some phonebanks at my house. On polling day I’ll be hosting a drop-in phonebank for much of the day. Fingers crossed for a Labour gain from the Conservatives!
