Penultimate Pattern Part!

That beautifully alliterative title is for the benefit of Amanda who, like me, loves the word ‘penultimate’! ;0)

So, yes, the word indicates that next week I will release the final part of the pattern, guiding you down the twisting and bubbling cascade to the mossy banks below it. :0)

This week sees the completion of the decreases for those who have knitted the hood, while those of you who have knitted a straight scarf just need to complete a few rows to lead into the lattice that mirrors the one you knitted before the hood knitters went off and did that crazy headcovering thing! The rest of this week’s portion is just repeats of earlier portions of the pattern. I’ve given you the new row numbers though in case any of you are using counters to keep track. It seems that may be smart as one or two folk have gotten themselves lost, either knitting more or less repeats than instructed. Poor Smiley is ending up with two scarves because of this (though she seems delighted about it!) while poor Amanda has decided to dip her toes into the frog pond for similar reasons. This is all part of the fun (really!) – having little adventures with pattern interpretation.

I’ve had a fairly restful week following the madness of last week and the course at the weekend, and am now looking forward to a lovely couple of days among friends in Wales. Some of them are knitters, and those who aren’t are keen to learn, so I’ll be taking plenty of yarn and needles with me. Despite some very stormy weather it is shaping up to be a blissful weekend. :0)
