These are some fingerless gloves I started working on last summer having bought the beautiful aqua yarn from The Yarn Yard’s stall at Woolfest. The design is the product of a lot of swatching to create the central beaded lace panel. Now a lot of folk think that here is nothing truly new in knitting, so I only dare say tentatively that I invented a new double increase for the lace panel that runs up the arms. Truly, I think it is a new one, not in any of my knitting books, including the fairly exhaustive tomes by Mary Thomas and Montse Stanley. I also swatched many single increase and decrease combinations before settling on the final scheme. I’m now writing up the pattern ready for some test knitters and intend to publish the finished pattern in mid-June.
