Description
Double Knitting Workshop
Fletchers Mill, Dean Clough, Halifax
Saturday March 21st
10.00am – 4.30pm (with lunch break)
Discover the magic of double knitting in this relaxed, friendly full-day workshop in the beautiful art room (upstairs) at Fletchers Mill.
Double knitting creates a sumptuous, two-layered fabric with mirrored colourwork: each side is the negative of the other. It’s warm, reversible, and endlessly fascinating — and much simpler than it looks when you know how.
What you’ll learn
Over the course of the day, you will:
-
- Work a seamless cast-on designed specifically for double knitting
- Learn practical, stress-free ways to manage two yarns at once
- Create neat, professional edges
- Finish with a seamless cast-off
- Knit a coaster featuring a striking star motif
By the end of the workshop, you’ll understand the structure of double knitting and feel confident starting larger colourwork projects of your own.
The class is suitable for knitters who are comfortable with knit and purl stitches and ready to try something new.

The workshop takes place in the art room (upstairs) at Fletchers Mill, Dean Clough, Halifax.
