Description
Saturday 22nd November 2025, 10:00am – 4:00pm
The Art Room, Fletcher’s Mill, Dean Clough, Halifax, HX3 5AX
Come and spend a relaxed day with me learning the wonderfully squishy magic of brioche knitting — without any tears!
I’ll show you how to knit plain brioche and two-colour brioche, both back and forth and in the round, as well as how to increase and decrease so you can start shaping your brioche projects with confidence, or make delightful patterns with the brioche ribs. I’ll also teach you a great hack that makes brioche knitting quick and easy.
Once you’ve got the hang of the techniques, we’ll make a start on Westward Leading, a fun little two-colour brioche star I’ve designed especially for this workshop. You’ll get the full pattern to take home so you can finish your star — or make a few more — afterwards.
What’s included
-
- Step-by-step teaching and support throughout the day
- My original Westward Leading pattern
- Tea, coffee and biscuits (please bring your own lunch, or pre-order from Lucy’s Little Bakehouse)
What to bring
-
- Two contrasting DK yarns you love
- 3mm needles for knitting both flat and in the round, either a 80cm circular needle (for magic loop method) or a set of 20cm DPNs
- The usual knitting bits and pieces (scissors, crochet hook, etc)
How to get here
Fletcher’s Mill is near Gate 5 at Dean Clough. Follow this link to find directions for getting to Dean Clough and a map of the site.
Where to stay
The Dean Clough site includes a Travelodge hotel. There are also lots of other accommodation options in the Halifax area. Find them here.
This class is perfect for anyone who is comfortable with the basics of knitting — you don’t need any previous experience of brioche. I promise you’ll leave with a new favourite knitting technique — and no tears at all!
