These slippers are a great little project for practicing stranded knitting techniques, including steeks. They make ideal gifts.
You will require approximately 200 metres/ 220 yards each in two contrasting colours of 4ply/fingering weight yarn for the slippers.
Choose needles for your preferred method of small diameter circular knitting. Suggested needle size is 2.75mm/US 2. Tension/gauge is 34 stitches and 44 rows per 4″ in stranded colourwork after blocking.
Marie –
These slippers were a delight to knit (I made the pictured sample). The design is beautiful, and the pattern is very well written, which made it a very satisfying knitting experience. The travelling braidlike bands of stitches are cleverly worked via increases/decreases, and the i-cord edging is a lovely finishing touch. The slippers are pretty, and of course very cosy due to the stranding of the colourwork. Altogether gorgeous!
