These elegant silk socks feature an optional French-style monogram and golden wands to celebrate the French academy of magic from which they take their name.

The socks are mostly knitted on 2.25mm/US1 DPNs at a tension of 38 stitches and 48 rounds to 10cm/4″ working top-down commencing with the picot edging. The lace frill is worked separately on 3mm needles.

Sized for a medium ladies foot the pattern gives clear guidance for customizing the foot length. Full instructions are given for each element of the sock, including a clear step by step guide to managing the needles when turning the picot edging, and full illustrated instructions for attaching the lace frills. Charts for the lace frill and the duplicate stitch monogram and wands logo are also included.

Materials required are 100g of 4ply/fingering weight silk yarn, a small amount of knitting in metallic thread (optional)to use in the frill, and a small amount of contrast metallic embroidery thread (optional) for working the monogram and logo.

Although this original design is inspired by the fiction of J.K. Rowling, it is not official or licensed merchandise, and is not intended to be perceived as such.

The pattern is also available in ‘Novel Knits’ (see ‘Books’).

Please note: Chaussattes de Beauxbatons was one of my earliest designs, and the pattern needs updating to reflect my current quality and presentation, hence the low price.
