These welly toppers are designed to protect you from welly chafe. They also help keep your trousers from tumbling out of your wellies. Beautiful and practical!
The braid on which the cable pattern is based was a common decoration in ancient mosaic pavements, including the beautiful floors in the Roman villa at Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire.
To make Wharfe you will need 165 metres/180 yards of a super bulky yarn. The pictured sample was knitted in ‘Rare’ from baa ram ewe.
Suggested needle size is 7mm. Tension/gauge is 13 sts and 20 rows per 10cm/4″.
The Wharfe pattern is also available in ‘Born & Bred’ (see ‘Books’).
