This little cup cosy is designed to be a quick project with which to practice steeking and icord techniques. It can be worked with small amounts, eg leftovers, of 4ply/fingering weight or sportweight yarn. The pictured sample was made with Rowan Felted Tweed DK, which is equivalent to a US sportweight. Suggested needle size is 3.25mm.
The pattern, which is free to you, contains illustrated tutorials for crochet provisional cast-on, spit-splicing in colourwork, slip-stitch steek reinforcement, and i-cord buttonholes.
Marie –
This is such a great practice project! I knit the pictured sample (it’s on my cup too!), and loved making it. The instructions are very clear, which was a great help given that I wasn’t very experienced in the techniques at the time – i-cord buttonhole, steeking, stranded colourwork. I really enjoyed knitting it, and was very satisfied with the end result. http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Wychwoodlady/mary-rose
