This lap or baby blanket is inspired by traditional Shetland haps with the added twist of a striped centre and twisted stitch cables in the border, giving it a somewhat nautical feel. The pattern includes full written instructions for both the centre and the border. The border is also fully charted.
Any aran-weight yarn with a high content of wool or alpaca may be substituted for the Troon Tweed used in the sample. You will need 850 – 914 metres (930 – 1000 yards).
Recommended needle size is 6mm/US 10. As the border is knitted in the round this should be a long circular needle.
The pattern is also available in the ‘Novel Knits’ collection (see ‘Books’).
