These fingerless mitts are a quick and easy knit. They are also a great project for learning and practicing one-row buttonhole and three-needle bind-off methods. The pattern guides the knitter step-by step through these methods.
Instructions are given for three sizes – 6.5/7.5/8.5 inch hand circumference.
You will need 201 – 229 metres (220 – 250 yards) of 2ply laceweight yarn. The pictured mitts were made with Rowan ‘Kidsilk Haze’.
Tension/gauge is 22 stitches and 30 rows per 4 inches in garter stitch. Suggested needle size is 3.75mm/US 5.
This pattern is also available as part of the ‘Novel Knits’ collection (see ‘Books’).
Marie –
I love these mitts, the pattern is so simple yet so effective. I am of course a Harry Potter fan, and have knit these mitts several times over now for myself, my daughter and swap buddies on Ravelry. They are really lovely in red against a black coat – http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Wychwoodlady/unbreakable-vow-2
