Each mitt is knitted wrist up from a provisional cast-on. After completing the hand, the lace edging is knitted downwards from the provisional stitches. The pattern features charts for the thumb gusset, the main hand, and the lace edging. Full written instructions accompany the charts to guide you through every stage of the project.

To make the mitts you will need 50g each of 2 contrasting shades of 4ply/fingering weight yarn. Tension/gauge is 36 stitches and 38 rows per 10cm/4″ in stranded stocking stitch/stockinette. Suggested needle size is 2.75mm/US 2 for the main glove, and 2.25mm/US 1 for the lace.

The pattern is also available in ‘A Time To Knit’ (see ‘Books’).

This is a lovely pattern, for which I knit the pictured sample. The pretty hearts are cleverly worked into the thumb gussets as well as the main hand sections. The finished result was so lovely that I decided to knit a matching beret too!
