A summer concert or a high school dance? You decide!
The pattern is written for 3 sizes, to fit 16½(19:21½)cm/6½(7½:8½)” hand circumferences. The finished gloves measure approximately 62(64:66)cm/24½(25¼:26)” long by 11½(12½:13½)cm/ 4¼:(4¾:5¼)” wide at the largest dimension.
To make the gloves you will need 100g of 3ply/ light fingering weight silk or silk blend yarn in the main colour, approximately 5 metres/5½ yards each of green and red silk embroidery threads, and 52 medium-sized (6mm) beads.
The pictured sample was knitted in hand-dyed ‘100% Silk 4ply’ (800m/874 yards per 100g) from The Knitting Goddess.
The roses on the hands are applied with Swiss Darning, aka duplicate stitch. If preferred this can be omitted.
Tension/gauge is 36 stitches and 48 rounds per 10cm/4″ in stocking stitch/stockinette after blocking. Suggested needle size is 2mm/US 0.
The pattern is also available in ‘A Time To Knit’ (see ‘Books’).
Marie –
I knit this sample for Ann when she originally designed them for the Coventry Ravelry day. It was my first ever set of gloves with fingers and beads! The pattern is well written, as always for Ann, with shaping to ensure a perfect fit on the arms. I loved the final result, and may well knit some when my daughter reaches the age for her High School Prom!
