The hat is knitted from brim to crown. The pattern includes full written instructions (including line-by-line instructions for the cable pattern) and a chart.
Choose needles for your preferred methods of small diameter circular knitting (the crown) and medium diameter circular knitting (the body). Due to the nature of the design, sizing is based on tension/gauge. Needles listed in the pattern are a recommendation only; you will need to swatch to choose appropriate needles for the size you wish to knit.
The pattern includes blocking instructions, for which you will need an approppriate size of plate or foam/plastic/cardboard form.
The pictured sample was made with baa ram ewe ‘Titus’, which is an even 4ply/fingering weight yarn with a slight halo.
The pattern is available in both A4 and Letter size formats, and all instructions include both US and UK knitting terminology.
Ilkley Moor is also available in ‘Born & Bred’ (see ‘Books’). The matching mitts, Baht ‘At, are also available for simgle download.
Marie –
I adore this design which incorporates beautiful twisted stitch cables in a fabulous celtic design. I knit the original sample for Ann, and loved it so much that I then knit a blue one for myself – http://www.ravelry.com/projects/Wychwoodlady/ilkley-moor-2
