Lórien

'Not idly do the leaves of Lórien fall’ *

This soft and slouchy beret features a band of
leaves below a lovely feather, fan and cable hat
body for a fun knit with very stylish results.

Intermediate plus knitters with experience of
cables, lace and grafting (aka kitchener stitch)
should find this project relatively easy. All cable
stitches, increases and decreases used in the design
have a step-by-step technical description in the
abbreviations list. The pattern includes full written
instructions and charts for the project.

Suggested needles are 2.5mm straights for the band
and 3.25mm needles for the hat body, either a
40cm/16" long circular and DPNs (for the crown
decreases); or one 120cm/47" long circular for the
magic loop method; or two 60cm/24" long circulars.

Yarn requirements are 65 – 70g/240- 260 metres/260-
285 yards of a soft and warm 4ply /fingering weight
yarn. The hat pictured was knitted with Jamie
Possum's 'Possum Plus 4ply’ in the ‘leaf’ colourway.
